Effectiveness of Acupuncture Combined with Nursing in Children with Nondialysis Chronic Kidney Disease: A Retrospective Study
Key takeaways
This study looked back at records of children with chronic kidney disease who were not on dialysis and compared those who got acupuncture plus nursing care with those who got nursing care alone. Because it looks backward at care that already happened, the groups were not randomly assigned. Children whose families chose acupuncture may differ in many ways from those who did not, and any of those differences could explain the result. This shows a link at best, and for a mind-body treatment in children that is a long way from evidence it works.
