Donor Self-Esteem Before and After Living Kidney Donation
Key takeaways
This study followed people who gave a kidney while alive and asked how donating changed the way they felt about themselves. Most donors already feel good about themselves before surgery, and much less is known about the years afterward. The researchers also looked at whether shifts in self-esteem tracked with symptoms of depression and anxiety. This is observational work, so it can show links, not proof that donating causes the change.
